Neilson Inc. was founded in 1963 by Dante Fava. His first contract consisted in executing
municipal works for the city of Sainte-Foy in Neilson Park and for that reason the new
company was named after this Park. On September 18, 1963, Neilson Inc. took up residence
in Bernières (now Saint-Nicolas) on the south shore of Québec and was incorporated in
accordance with Quebec jurisdiction, chapter 276, article 11.
| From the beginning the company specialized! |
 |
In the beginning, Neilson Inc. specialized in public works by carrying out sewer, waterworks and road projects in various Québec municipalities. Right away, the company found its niche and made a name for itself in rock drilling and blasting for the execution of contracts in isolated regions.
During the 70's, Neilson Inc. expanded its activities to encompass road contracts for all levels of government. It fulfilled important road contracts on a network of roads on the Côte-Nord, Bas-Saint-Laurent, Outaouais, Mauricie, Estrie and Québec regions.
At the end of this decade, Neilson Inc. embarked on its adventure at James Bay where it remained till the end of Phase I in the mid-80's. During this period, Neilson Inc. carried out road, camp construction, spillways, dikes, dams and mini-power stations on the mega complexes of James Bay-Phase I.

In 1981, Mr. Fava handed over the ownership of Neilson Inc. to his three sons, Jean, Franco and Mario. The three brothers followed in the footsteps of their father and the company rapidly became a leader in the construction industry.
After James Bay, Neilson Inc. involved itself in projects where logistics and planning of isolated sites became the main challenges of the company. It carried out airport renovation works, municipal works as well as road works for the north-eastern Québec mining region. Added to the list are road, wharf, port installation and municipal works on the Basse Côte-Nord. Later followed the construction of four nordic airport installations in the native villages of the Nouveau Québec region for the ministère des Transports du Québec.
